So when the ArcFlash Labs GR-1 “Anvil” eight-stage semi-automatic high-voltage gas rifle recently made headlines, we were definitely intrigued. The GR-1 "Anvil" doesn't look like it's ready for serious time yet, but it's still very interesting and worth an early introduction. It's basically a handheld electromagnetic rail gun that can "accelerate any ferromagnetic projectile (less than 1/2" in diameter) to 200+ fps and deliver 75 foot-pounds of muzzle energy. For home defense applications, the GR- 1 might not be the best choice, but it sure is fun at the shooting range or without the gun in the basement. In fact, we don't recommend shooting the GR-1 Anvil in a basement. Why does that scare us?
